Keep your apps (and devices) clean

Keep your apps (and devices) clean

We know upgrading your operating system is one of those things you look forward to as much as a dentist visit. While it isn’t the flashiest feature of StorySlab, like a visit to the dentist, it’s a necessity to keep your mobile device healthy and secure.

All apps built on the StorySlab platform are updated and tested in advance of major operating system releases, so when you finally build up the courage to hit that ‘update my OS’ button, you can be sure your StorySlab will work effortlessly.

While we make sure StorySlab apps are ready for OS updates, there are some things users should consider to make sure their devices are ready for the newest versions:

iOS:

OS 12 was released on September 17th 2018. We have tested our applications on iOS 12 to ensure that they work on the new iOS just as well as the previous iOS versions. That said, it may be beneficial to wait for iOS 12 to go through a revision cycle or two before installing, if possible. New operating systems are often released with bugs which are ironed out later on, and iOS 12 appears to be no exception to this. Some iOS 12 users have noted poor contrast levels, battery life issues, and notifications not working. For more information take a look at the following articles: Forbes, iMobie or visit Apple support.

Windows:

Microsoft issues major updates twice a year. The latest release, Windows 10 Version 1803, was released in April 2018 and the newest version is being released in mid-October. To best prepare for this upcoming update, Microsoft recommends clearing 20 GB of storage space on your device to make space for some of the file shuffling that occurs during an OS update. The best way to clear storage is to temporarily (or permanently) move files like videos, photos and music to a USB storage device. Visit Microsoft Support for more information about Windows updates.
