Working Remote? How To Keep A Personal Touch

Working Remote? How To Keep A Personal Touch

There’s no doubt that coronavirus has changed life as we know it. That extends from home to the office and beyond as we search for ways to stay healthy without losing connections. Your sales reps may feel this even more than other members of your team, since going into the field and meeting with clients is at the heart of what they do.

Yet connecting with prospects and clients doesn’t have to become impersonal when reps are stuck at home. Remote selling requires some adjustment but can be just as effective as in-person meetings. For help, check out our best tips for retaining the personal feel of face-to-face sales while adhering to the social distance needed to overcome COVID-19.

  1. Keep Up with Everyone

During this time, try to keep up with work as normal and don’t rush to cancel calls. Your contact is likely willing to speak with you as planned. Take some time to ask how they’re doing and how they’re handling the situation. Doing so adds a personal touch and gives you something to connect over. It also opens up the door for the next tip.

  1. Find Shortcuts in Their Supply Chain

A lot of businesses are changing on the fly as conditions evolve. Some are slowing down, some are ramping up, and others are making major changes to their business models and production workflows.  Ask your contact about his/her supply chain and how you can help. There’s a good chance you can suggest shortcuts and solutions to make their job easier. Once you establish yourself as a trusted resource, you’ve built a strong foundation for a lasting partnership.

  1. Cameras On!

Video chat has come a long way, and sales can put it to good use. Your reps’ webcams can keep them face-to-face with clients so they can read body language and expressions for a human touch that email and even phone calls can’t duplicate. Virtual in-person sales can also strengthen personal connections and help you skirt miscommunications. Plus, everyone can benefit from a little face-to-face interaction while stuck at home.

  1. Discover Remote Sales Tools That Work

Now that you’re working remotely, it’s time to invest in sales tools that support your new needs, like StorySlab. Our platform enables remote training and puts all your sales and marketing materials where they’re needed most – in the hands of reps and in front of prospects. Interested in learning more?
